I had the same (albeit less) decision. Allow someone to anestize me, cut me open,, sew me back up to attempt to alleviate chronic knee pain that has dogged me for a long time. I was scared to death. Never had any procedure like this ever done to me. Uncharted waters. Doc was about 24 years old. I have been living with it. Why chance it?
I walked out, 1 hour after I woke up, of the hospital that I wasn't able to walk in to.
Hindsight being 20/20 I should have had it done a long time ago.
BTW they told me all the worst case scenarios as well. It is law, I think. Get a good hospital, a good doc, and a good medical team.
