I'm more inclined to think it is the hired man, who is the only reason anything ever got done down Hebblethwaite Manor. I seriously doubt Uncle Murray ever did a serious lick of work in his life, busy as he was having tea (and trying to get something going, no doubt) with Baroness Guinevere, and was only remotely aware of what was going on among the serfs.
