The government does indeed "print money". If they didn't, we'd have no printed money. If they printed money in a fixed amout and only replaced dollar bills that were worn out or damaged, we'd have exactly the same number of dollar bills in circulation today that we did in 1785. The money supply and "value therof" is the constitutional responsibility of the congress which has delegated the task(s) to other agencies and created the Federal Reserve Board of Governors to deal with the matter. "Other agencies" include the US Treasury which, the last time I checked, was headed by a political appointee of the president with the "advice and consent" of the US Senate. If the devil is not in that mix, I don't know where he would be. Oh, by the way, I hope you're not swallowing that AARP pablum?
