I has been my observation that the difference between renting and owning is the initial down payment. At my farm I have a pole machinery shed/shop that I have built an "apartment" into where I live until I can get a house built--the farm is 100 mi from our home. But unless you plan ahead it is going to be very cold in the winter and hot in the summer.
