Speaking of hogs, here in my neck of the woods we cannot have a toilet in a hog confinement if it dumps into the manure pit. It has to go to an approved septic system. Has to do with human bacteria becoming resistant to animal drugs closely related to human drugs. The hog buildings around here hold several million gallons in the pits and we all know how much a human puts out in one sitting so we are talking about miniscule amounts.
According to my local county sanitarian, or sewer guy, or whatever he's called, they aren't worried about the poop as much as the drugs that pass through our bodies. He said they want the sewage to be exposed to the bacteria three days to break the drugs down. I would think the hole under an outhouse would give it more time than that. Jim
