Other than a couple of dudes, the ones in my area that have the permits, scare me worse than the fellons. Most aren't real stable, and I see no need to pack heat in my small part of the world.
This may change, but untill then I will just use the proper protection without a piece of paper. If you want to kick my door in, a piece of paper isn't going to save your rear end, regardless who has it..you or me.
