Congratulations! We bought our first house when I was 26 in 1974,,, San Jose Ca, for 34,900. Brand new 4 bd, 2 bath, 1400 sq.ft. Payments were 330 per month and terrifying for the first two months.. Then it was all good. Sold it 4 years later for 78,000 and thought it was the best thing evr. Twenty years later it was worth ten times that much. (Silicon Valley prices got stupid high). The values have come down since then, but it would still be enough for me to retire. Oh well, At least I now live on some acreage, not a postage stamp, and don't have to rub elbows with my neighbors.
