I depends on how tight your house is. I have one in an old farm house that is insulated but still has some leaks. It works fine I have enough fresh air coming in that the CO/2 level has never been an issue. The moisture I like as it makes you feel warmer and your skin does not dry out so much. If I had a newer,tighter house then I would put in a vented one. Also look and see if they need electric to work. Mine does not and it is a good back up if we lose electric.
