Had a vh4d years ago that delivered a week spark when it got hot so figured the coil was going bad. Took the internal coil out and mounted an external coil, drilled a hole through the case and ran a coil wire through and soldered it in place. Installed a ign switch and run 12 volt to the coil and used the mag as a distributor, started and run like a champ after that.
