I recently bought this truck, "91 Dakota, V6, 5 spd., 4x4. The pickup plate in the dist. was bad, previous owner couldn"t figure it out, let it sit for 2 years.
I"ve put a couple hundred miles on it now. It definitely surges, particularly between 2,000 and 3,000 RPM, worse after it warms up. It has dual exhaust, both tips have black residue. Would the dual exhaust conversion affect readings by the O2 sensor?
Only one code in the computer, references the "vehicle speed/distance sensor". I have changed this with a used but known good part, code comes back anyway. I suspect a wiring issue. Any other suggestions? Would this problem create the surging?
