I'm in eastern Nebraska, and I've seen them go for $5-$10 on auctions. People probably shy away from them on auctions because they can't see the inside. If the tank has rust in it, the angle iron in the frame is probably worth more for shop projects than the tank itself.
All depends on what the inside looks like. If it's had gasoline in it, and sat for several years, could be solid rust inside. Diesel not quite as apt to rust. Or they could be pristine inside. Just have to look through the filler with a strong flashlight.
I have two that have been unused for 20 years. I'd like to get rid of them because they're just in the way, but I'm not sure how. Haven't even checked the insides. Might dump on an annual consignment auction next March and hope I get a few bucks.
