My dad was a rascally fellow,loved by many,hated by a few and mentor for a bunch of young folks. He loved in this order,my mom,his kids,his farm,his cows,his dogs,His Oliver Tractors and his Chevrolet Trucks.He sort of retired in 1980,puttered around the farm and one spring day in 1981 he went to the porch to sit a spell as he would say it and died some time that day. We don't know the exact hour,one of the farm hands went to ask him something and found him dead sitting in his favorite porch rocker.We figure he was dead about 6 hours before he was found. A big void developed that was never filled when he passed away.That was in April 1981.My mom passed on in January 1971.
