Don't live the "new american lifestyle" I deserve NICE STUFF AND I NEED IT NOW.
I always drove junk cars.
I built a pole barn in the 80's and finished and plumbed it so if I lost my job at least I'd have shelter. And we did have to live there a few years. We didn't have a kitchen sink for 3 years--plastic tubs and dump it down the floor drain. When the newly finished living addition was done I told her she could have any sink she wanted and she picked out a helluva nice three tub cast iron one. Never had a mortgage over $10,000. Learned plumbing wiring etc. I never had a nice union job with a pension. I'm 59 now and quit working 8years ago. The barn and appartment are now rented and I live on a little fising lake.
Be careful how you approach the american dream---debt sucks. With your new free time read "The Wealth Barber" one of the best financial books ever written.
