Depends on the chopper. We had an old Cockshut and later a old New Holland single row, both flywheel cut, and altho did not do a lot did chop sone corn for direct feed and bean straw for bedding as well as chopping spoiled hay back on the field and had a 5' John Deere No. 10 grean chopper and pulled them with a 28 max pto hp John Deere B tractor. Now Uncle had a newer New Holland single row, cylinder style cutter head, and it took twice the power to pull as did our older models.
