90% are just "tire kickers." They don't have the money or any intention of buying. You gotta deal with them because you never know who's a tire kicker, and who's really serious.
You're a grown-up; you know when something doesn't smell right, and you know what to do when something doesn't smell right. If you fall for one of those cashier's check scams, you only have yourself to blame.
Think to yourself: Why would ANYONE want to buy a Ford 3000 sight unseen? It's not collectible. It's a chore tractor. You can buy a suitable chore tractor practically anywhere.
If someone wants to drive 1000 miles to see it, what difference does it make to you? Tell him to bring CASH and a trailer.
If you're uncomfortable, arrange for backup. Someone licensed to carry concealed, and ready to use it, is ideal. A buddy with a loaded shotgun, within earshot, is not a bad alternative.
