Wanted a little aluminum boat (10') to take son and grandson fishing last spring. Craiglist was exasperating- emails wouldn't go through, or weren't answered, etc. The ones with phone #s seemed to work OK.
Called a guy and arranged to go see a boat about 80 miles away- got there, was looking at boat, and the cops showed up. They said the owner had seen it on Craiglist and claimed it was stolen. The guy said he had been given the boat in return for helping someone move, etc., etc. Cops told me I might as well run along, as I wouldn't be buying a boat that day.
Did find one later, took son and grandson out opening day of trout season, and Sheriff's patrol gave us a ticket (warning) for too many people in the boat. Seems a 10 foot square-front pram is only good for 2. Back to the drawing board, I guess.
