Did that back in 74, (Well, sorta). Busy cutting silage the day a sale I wanted to attend came along. It was a 1949 JD G that had been in a fire, and reconditioned by the local dealer there. Had new rubber all around too. We had gone to check it out the previous sunday. Second son was only aprox three weeks old, so she took him to Gramma's and went to sale for me, around 120 miles away. Sent with instructions to bid up to $600 dollars, but don't let get away for $700. Came home that night and told me I was the proud new owner of the G! Said it brought $800. Turned out to be a very good buy. Used it in our farming operation for several years, before selling it. About 3 years later I became involved in tractors and did a tractor research through Two-Cylinder Club. Research came back it was shipped from factory the same day as my birthday. Took a couple years to get it bought back, but I am the proud owner again. This adds no value to the tractor for anyone but me, but I don't care about that!
