Last big tree I took down was too close to the house to let it fall the "natural" direction. I knew it was still solid, so could keep it somewhat predictable.
Notched it in the desired direction, and used the loader on my IH1066 to "deflect" the tree away from the house in case the tree gave a "twist" on the way down. I would sooner fix a window on the tractor than have it hit the house. I put NO pressure on the tree with the loader except to "bump" it a couple times to shake loose a couple broken off branches high in the tree.
All went well. I don't like to take the chances I did when I was younger. I must have been lucky then, I took down tree's then that I would not even consider now. DOUG
