730, we really got off topic with that lease thing. I disagree on that lease comment. I've leased 1/2 a dozen cars in the last 15 years. Back in 05 we leased a Durango. When the bottom fell out of the SUV market in 07/08, all we had to do was walk up and toss them the keys. Whenever you do a lease, what I've found works is don't put anything down. Too many idiots are looking for a payment, so they put all thier money down to reduce the monthly paymnet and make it sound like a good deal. If you treat the transaction as if you were buying it outright, make sure the payment significantly less than the buy option, and plan on walking away from it. Every lease I've done, the vehicle was worth less at the end of 3 years than the residual. So we pay less to have it and don't take a bath when we trade it in.

We are usually tired of a vehicle or our needs change after 2-3 years so it works great for us. Kids, moving, etc, all affects the need for a particular car. Ever try to sell a vehicle that you purchased after 2-3 years? yuk.

And yes, there are those who will say I'm the idiot for not keeping my cars until the wheels fall off. I usually drive an older one, and I plan on keeping the truck for quite a while, but the wife is going to have a newer one every couple years. Not because she says she has to have one, but because

1. She's hot

2. She deserves it

3. She has the kids in the car more than I do

4. I don't have time to constantly make repairs to a vehicle (even if it's low $ stuff, time is money too and I don't want my wife/kids stuck somewhere)

That was a lot of hot air just to tell you I didn't agree with the lease thing. Works for some people, not for others.

Today's Featured Article - History of the Nuffield Tractor - by Anthony West. The Nuffield tractor story started in early 1945.
