Interesting discussion--I have a fair amount of tools, but every once in a while one sticks out that REALLY increases your fabricating/repair abilities or REALLY speeds up your current capabilities. On this end, a few that make that grade were a horizontal/vertical metal bandsaw (huge increase in the speed an precision of metal fabrication), a needle scaler (tremendously speeds cleanup of heavily rusted parts) my little 7 x 12 mini-lathe (a huge boost to my capabilities for making repair parts like bushings, shafts, collars, special nuts and bolts, etc.) and a Dewalt 18-v cordless impact, which has nearly put both my cordless drills (for inserting screws and lag bolts) and my 1/2" air impact (loosening stubborn fasteners) out to pasture.
