Just wanted to make a clarification on something I said yesterday. A well known know-it-all here tried to make it sound like I was putting my daughter's life in danger when I said:
"When I plugged the tire it had 10-12 PSI pressure. It's supposed to have 32 PSI. So she ran it low for a couple hundred miles. Just want to make sure there's no inside damage."
To make it perfectly clear, she probably picked up the screw in her tire on the way home from college Friday afternoon. When I checked and found the 10-12 PSI was Monday afternoon. That's 3 days for air to leak out of the tire. So yes she did run the tire low for a couple hundred miles. But she didn't run it at 10-12 PSI for a couple hundred miles. But then, that's why I want to have the tire inspected before leaving it on the ground long term. I will also definitely spend the $150 to $200 to replace the tire if the local shop that I trust deems it to be unsafe for long term use because of the location of my plug.
Thanks to those who tried to help and give good advice. To the know-it-all, well you know the routine.
