I've got a Mighty Mule with a bad motor. Company will NOT just sell you the motor. They want to sell the whole arm ($200 for refurbed). What's infuriating is that the manual gives troubleshooting info to disassemble and check the motor, which I did. I'm now looking all over for a replacement motor. I think they're about a $25 item. I've heard that they're used in RC cars and I'm going to take the motor to a hobby shop to see if I can get a replacement or a cross-reference.
Poor public relations. If I need another gate opener, Mighty Mule will not be high on the list, although Guess I'll look up Apollo.
Looked at the list VaTom posted. Only problem is that the actuators that look compatible (voltage, stroke) are as much as the Mighty Mule replacement. Not sure if the motors will last any longer or if the circuitry would be readily adaptable without any messing around to get them to work.
If I can find a replacement motor, I'll post online about it. Seems to be a common problem with these units.
