Seems like when the urban areas aren't doing well, agriculture is doing OK, and vice versa.
Agriculture in the upper midwest is doing fairly well overall. Some of the farmers who watch the markets closely have 2010-2011 and even 2012 corn and beans locked in for a good profit and the yields look exceptionally good in the areas that aren't too wet. The wheat belt has seen very good yields too and the price is good because of Russia's drought, so the machinery dealers are selling a lot of iron.
I would guess that a most of the truck traffic going or coming from north of Sioux falls is ag-related. Jim
