The choke isn't connected to my 1950 IH C. I set the throttle to an idle and it starts all the time on the first or second crank of the engine. If gas isn't running out the carb when it's not running, I would say the float and needle is doing it's job. Are you aware the fuel adjustment screw is backward? Turn the jet all the way in for rich and all the way out is lean? I have mine all the way out and my plugs are like new. When I purchased the tractor, the jet was all the way in and the plugs were all black carbon. LOL Hope this helps. George
