The earlier diesels used model PSB Bosch inline pumps. They switched to a Roosa Master DBG pump in "61 or "62. You can switch from the Bosch to the RM but you would have to change all of the injector lines.
As far as more power, most of the pulling guys use the gas/ LP versions. My M5 has G1000V Jugs & heads, I think it ran 72 hp with a fresh pump.
