if this was converted from points to electronic.ignitonm and you put the battery in backwards from it was the electronic modgule could be destroyed .take the cap off the distributor and look what is in there . DO NOT REMOVE THE DISTBUTOR FROM ENGINE AS YOU WILL LOSE THE TIMEING . if you can find out whose engine it is that will help getting parts . more help will show up here .
