Not an expert on field corn, but sweet corn is 60 days or a little more. My understanding is that there are field corn varieties that are that early, but yield is reduced some. Rain is uncertain usually and the soil does not hold moisture that well. Firther East there are areas with underground water and they dig wells and put in center pivots and can grow the full season corn.
Some daries near me make do on rainfall for silage corn, if pond water is availiale they use that for irrigation.
