Start by sanding the points with wet/r/dry sandpaper. It may need new plugs, and at least a condensor if the points look ok. I would tear the carb apart and clean it. Check the distributer cap for corrosion on the contacts... clean as required. I'm not that familiar with the 8N, is that have a mag or coil?
