tlak -- my company retirement, along with millions of other people across the USA, is an annuity issued by an insurance company that my company has paid on over the years. No different than the annuities individuals can buy for themselves of which I also have a couple. My point is this, that fully funded retirement is a benefit my employer offered, it is and always has been part of my total compensation package, the company had to pay less in outright wages in order to offer this benefit, I was willing to take less pay in order to have a secondary income later. This is how actual businesses that employ people and pay taxes and create economic growth have to operate. Who would want their future in the hands of the corrupt extornionists running and fleecing union pension plans or the vote buying politicians who designed government pension schemes.
