I have two buckets full of lightning damaged transformers Ive taken out of fence chargers in my shop.Import and some US built chargers dont have fuses.I find blown fuses are the only problem in many chargers.Lightning diverters do reduce strike damage but they wont eliminate it.Take the charger to a repair shop.Many chargers have tamper proof screws holding the case together.
