I did some detasseling of corn back in the early 80"s. We rode some and walked some. I will try a quick explanation of what detasseling is all about... It is how next years "seed" corn is produced. They plant two varieties of corn. In a pattern 4 or 6 rows of female corn then 1-2 rows of male corn etc... All the tassels are removed from the female corn. Male corn pollinates female corn. At end of season female corn is harvested and hauled of to a seed processing plant and it is now a "hybrid" seed. Male rows were harvested seperately. That is what I remember. SHON
