I"m using a pump made for bottom based aeration (pump is shore mounted) and is made for continuous duty. Fish places sell them but they typically sell the whole kit which can run upwards of $1000. You can usually buy just the pump for a couple hundred and run your own airline. The diffuser is another animal. Using a rubber diaphram one now and it"s been rgeat. until I had the cash for that, it was a coil of airhose at the bottom with a bunch of pinholes in it. All this is assuming you"re looking to aerate the pond and not pump water out of it. If you need more details, feel free to email/post back.
