Sounds like you're describing the drive shaft for an engine driven pump mounted to the front of the tractor.
Shouldn't be too bad. Those shafts are either a left hand thread into the adapter that will be bolted to the front pulley, or splined. The splines could be partially worn, needing you to turn the shaft the opposite direction of the normal rotation to try and unlock the splines from each other, which could add to the difficulty.
Lots of tractors use the same type of setup, but there are different lengths and types of adapters that bolt to the front pulley.
