What you are talking about is not the pump. It is the hydraulic control valve. With two levers and one set of couplers???? If it is that type the one lever locks out the three point system and then the other lever runs the couplers.

Your Dads has an external valve plumbed through a hydraulic power beyond block. That block should be bolted on the top of the transmission.

Both of these tractors hydraulic pump is in the bottom of the transmission. You can not see it from the outside. There is a pipe out the top of the hydraulic pump to the plate on top of the transmission. Then you could have several types of valves or blocks on the transmission top.
