If, for some reason, the clutch will not engage..you may have a broken clutch-lining... This can be dangerous and should be checked..if the ends happen to try to over-lap, the clutch WILL engage for no apparent reason..with NO way to stop, except to stop the engine..or get it out of gear..
Also..NEVER FORCE those 3 Bolts...!!!!!!!!!!
Get the nuts to move carefully and use penetrant as needed.. IF you force them, you WILL BREAK a chunk out of the Clutch-Drum... If the clutch has not been serviced, go ahead and remove the Forks and pull the drum off and grease the moving parts and clutch bearing.. JD had recommended this be serviced once a Year...!!
