There are a lot of variables even between different models of the same manufacturer. There really is no STANDARD weight difference. I have hauled a lot of hay with both stepdecks and flats. You will have to consider the hay you will be hauling. I have used a 53 foot stepdeck and not weighed 80,000 gross weight, and have used a 45 x 96 aluminum flat and was surprised to be grossing 83,620 pounds. It's best to check out the weight and 5th wheel pin setting with the truck you will be using. Tractor Vet gave you a good answer. Wayne
