A few years back my wife changed jobs and we got one of those policies that covered the major medical stuff, like a broken leg, cancer, injuries and the like. We needed this until the new insurance kicked in at her new place.
The policy was only good for a year but it was $300 per month for my family of 3, included my kid at the time he was 7. You may be better off getting a catastropic health care policy and paying for the medications yourself. (just a thought)
