McC seems to've been (I'm assuming he's now past tense) a zealot put in an impossible situation... Whatever happens, it's a lose-lose situation, both militarily and politically... I don't know what he was told, implied or promised when he took over, but I would guess he was lo-balled to a fare-thee-well, re' his alleged comments about 'betrayal'...
