How many speed is the Transmission? Will you be hauling a heavy trailer? The reason I ask is because if you intend to pull much, you may want to consider putting a heavy duty torque converter in. I had a 1990 and it also had the lag you speak of, but that was a 3 speed. I had the shift timing changed so that it stayed in 2nd longer before shifting and also a heavy duty torque converter.... no more problems! This made the trailer-pulling much better. I just got rid of a '98 5-speed standard shift because I could not keep 5th gear in it. I hope you have better success with your Dodge. ( I now have a '07 6-speed standard). so far-so good! my wife drives a '98 automatic diesel and it has always been dependable. hope it is just a matter of adjustment. Cal
