Tightening the small nut increases the range/span/dead band. Less pump cycling. Large nut raises or lowers both the start and stop pressures together. The old one was still working here but it looked tired. Replaced with the switch equipped with the "very low" pressure shut off. In case a pipe etc bursts. The pump shuts down. As others have asked. Is the tank waterlogged, has the bladder ruptured or wrong bladder pressure?
