In this case,because of how bad this corporation mishandled everything,yes,the Government has to come in and make sure they take care of the interests of our country/people. The reason is this corporation already has a record of not doing what its supposed to do,and 11 people died from it,plus thousands are out of a job and a livlyhood because BP wanted to make more money,while making billions off of our backs. You wont get anywhere trying to defend this crap,its just wrong,and the government is the only ones who can make them straighten up and fly right,if even they can.
