Had one blow up on my Oliver 550. Voltage regulator had went bad and stuck in charge position and over charged battery causing it to blow the caps off. This released the gas fumes from battery and when it found an ignition source it blew. I never did smell the fumes before the blow out. I was not hurt but did have to clean my shorts.:-) It took a while to track the problem source down. This tractor does not have an amp meter to show charge and/or discharge. If you have room to mount one I would suggest you do and you will be able to monitor the charge to battery.
