My dad, in his seventies, retired after farming this farm for 24 years. He raised potatoes, corn beans, oats, hay, pigs, chickens, and dairy cattle. During that time he built the farm up from nothing to a very productive farm, built a barn and house almost single handedly. One of his smart alec friends had a comment about "having time on his hands" - His reply was something to the effect that he had things he'd wanted to do on this farm for twenty years. He retired in 1970, died of alzheimers in 1984, and I'm still trying to get around to some of his "twenty year" projects! Congrats on your retirement. Don't plan on having time on your hands. Tasks just seem to arise to fill all of the available time! Some of the hardest fellows to get ahold of are my "retired" friends!
