Oil for freshly broken in Ferguson TO-30

I have been running my newly rebuilt Ferguson TO-30 with 30HD oil to break it in, and soon I will be changing the oil to whatever I intend to use full time.

What is the best oil to use in this tractor? The owner's manual says to use SAE 30 in the summer, but it was written in 1952. Hopefully, oil technology has improved since then.

Also, the owner's manual says to break it in for 40 hours or so before the first oil change. Any thoughts on that?
