You could have poured in some gas line antifreeze and had the same results. Alcohol and mineral solvents are the same stuff no matter what the bottle says. As for stopping oil leaks and restoring auto transmission function. It isn't difficult to find something that will swell cork,rubber etc. Even brake fluid will do that.
