Took a cell phone call, and walked out to the polebarn, (actually oversized garage) to complete the call in peace and quiet. Sat down on a lawn chair in the garage doorway. Heard a rustling off to my left - and a juvinile woodchuck popped out from under my partially disassembled Farmall tractor. Since I had some problems with gophers, there was a scoped, semi-auto .22 in the building, to my right,just a few feet away. Tried to shoot it under the tractor without taking out a tire, but trouble seeing thru the scope in the darkness and shadows. Critter finally ran thru the open door and into the yard. Made it all of ten feet!
