Stopped at Safeway this morning, and ran into Navy Lt. David Mauel, local boy and good friend of my son. He was in full dress white uniform for the Memorial Day service at local cemetary. Impressive lad, with many ribbons (2 tours in mideast).
I watched as he went around the store- he may think twice about shopping in dress uniform again- it was slow going, what with most everyone stopping him to shake his hand and thank him for his service. As I drove away, an older gent had waylaid him in the parking lot.
Did my heart good- glad to live in a small town where those things are still important.
