Mike, I believe this is the gen/reg/warning light ckt for your tractor & believe that I remember that the WL and D (Dynamo or Armature) are common. Given that, if gen does not output a voltage near same as battery, then light is powered by battery via switch & lights. If the gen field isn't properly controlled by reg, then 'light', so yes, you have a potential of either gen or reg or both as failed. Since the field in gen is shown as having one end grounded (known as "B-CKT" generator). you can apply battery power to FIELD terminal and measure D-terminal voltage, using analog voltmeter & determine if gen is generating or not. If it is, then look to regulator. All assuming yours is as pictured.
