You may find it hard to believe, the way the brush chopper is designed, it only throws the brush to the left, into what you are chopping, or upward. If you look at the mower deck, part of the left side is removed so the blade can get into the brush and do it's work. It is also a good idea not to have anyone standing in front while you are working. I do wear safety glasses. Have been using it for 2 years and feel it it safer to operate than a chain saw or a 3600 RPM 8 in wire wheel. Yet to have anything come after me.
