Yep, it could be that due to bad connections at the batt terminals that there was an arc when you tried to start the tractor (frying/popping sound). On the otherhand you could have a short in the system somewhere. I'd check to see if the battery still has a charge, if it does then clean the terminals as suggested, and you might check the condition of the ground strap too. If you have a short in the system I'd recomend getting it serviced if you're not comfortable chasing electrical problems. A dead short with a fully charged battery can be dangerous (as in boom!) JDD
